When someone travels to Rome there is always at least one picture of a family throwing coins into the Trevi Fountain. A coin thrown into the fountain ensures not just a speedy but a safe return to Rome. This rite has been traced back to the Ancient Romans, who sacrificed a coin in lakes and rivers to placate the Gods into helping them back home safely. Good to know that all the tourists who get so much from their travels to Rome are able to give back to this beautiful city!
